Birdwich – Organic Content Strategy

SEO Case Study: “Best Restaurants Miami”

One of my recent projects involved developing a long-form SEO article for Birdwich as part of a broader organic traffic growth strategy.

Rather than creating isolated content, the goal was to build a series of blog posts targeting high-value search queries that could naturally introduce the restaurant to users actively looking for dining recommendations in Miami. The keyword selection was based on research conducted with Google Ads Keyword Planner and Semrush, prioritizing search intent, competition, and ranking opportunities.

The Challenge

The primary keyword selected for this article was “Best Restaurants Miami.”

From a grammatical perspective, this presented an interesting challenge. The naturally written phrase would typically be “Best Restaurants in Miami,” while search data showed that users frequently searched for the shortened version without the preposition.

The objective was therefore to optimize for the exact keyword while maintaining natural, readable English.

To accomplish this, I incorporated the primary keyword 17 times throughout a 3,259-word article, achieving an approximate keyword density of 0.5% without compromising readability.

Instead of repeating the keyword unnaturally, I integrated it into variations such as:

  • best restaurants Miami has to offer
  • among the best restaurants Miami has today
  • the best restaurants Miami is known for

This approach allowed the article to remain conversational while preserving strong on-page optimization.

Content Structure

The article was intentionally organized using a clear heading hierarchy (H2, H3 and H4) to improve both readability and crawlability.

The structure follows a logical flow that allows readers to quickly navigate to the sections most relevant to them while helping search engines understand the relationship between topics and subtopics.

On-Page SEO Optimization

Beyond the article itself, several additional SEO elements were carefully planned:

  • SEO-friendly URL slug
  • Concise and informative meta description
  • Logical heading hierarchy
  • Internal content organization
  • Optimized image filenames
  • Descriptive alt text for every image

The article includes 50 properly licensed images, each accompanied by descriptive alt text, as well as a featured image that summarizes the content and reinforces the page’s primary topic.

Semantic Keyword Strategy

While the primary keyword remained the focus, the article also incorporated approximately 50 semantically related keywords identified during keyword research.

These included location-specific terms, cuisine types, dining categories, and user search modifiers such as:

  • Coral Gables
  • cuisine
  • pasta
  • meals
  • points
  • dining
  • brunch
  • sandwiches
  • local restaurants

This semantic optimization helps broaden topical relevance while aligning the content with a wider range of search intents.

Skills Demonstrated

This project showcases my ability to combine SEO research with user-focused writing through:

  • Keyword research using Google Ads Keyword Planner and Semrush
  • Search intent analysis
  • Long-form SEO copywriting
  • Natural keyword integration
  • Semantic SEO
  • Information architecture
  • On-page optimization
  • Image optimization and accessibility
  • Metadata optimization
  • Content strategy for organic traffic growth

Rather than optimizing for keywords alone, the objective was to create content that provides genuine value to readers while following SEO best practices that improve discoverability and long-term organic performance.
